Steve Jobs is commonly thought of as a tech genius when we talk about him, the man who helped to create Apple. But did you know that his love for fancy writing played a huge role in making Apple products appear so cool? Yeah, it all began in a calligraphy class in college.
He dropped out of college after six months because he wasn’t feeling it. However, that turned out to be a good thing because it gave him an opportunity to take up calligraphy. He learned about various fonts, spacing and how to make writing look beautiful. Although at the time it didn’t seem useful, Steve found it really interesting.
Ten years later Steve used this experience from his calligraphy class to design the Macintosh computer. It was the first computer with nice looking writings on its monitor screen. This was important as before computers were only boring machines. But Steve transformed them into interesting and user friendly things.
“Looking forward, you can never connect the dots; however, once you are through with whatever you did or realized while back.” This is approximately what Steve said, meaning that what may often seem unrelated will turn out to be super significant one day. His calligraphy class justifies this perfectly.
Thus, Steve shows us by example that our hobbies and interests can actually help us in our jobs. Whether you love music, taking pictures, or something else, you never know how it might come in handy one day.
So, why not try something new and see where it takes you? You might discover a talent you never knew you had! Explore some hobby kits and get started.
